They used to sell singles!! What excuse is this garbage of people buying one song. Someone who is a true fan will want to hear, and LISTEN to the artist and their album in the entirety of its creativity.

I used to shop at 3 locations in So Cal… 1, Van Nuys Bl and Parthenia, Van Nuys… 2, Ventura Bl and Laurel Canyon, Studio City… And 3, The Infamous Sunset Store in Hollywood !!! Aside from records, they also had Ticketmaster which sold concert tickets !!! There was quite a few nights that I and some friends would spend the night in the parking lot or in front of the stores waiting in line for the doors to open to purchase our concert tickets for a lot of great shows that I've seen !!! Music has been and still is a great part of my life !!! That is one of the reasons that I am here on YouTube !!! I stumbled on to this Movie/Documentary by accident !!! I had no idea what it was and what it was about !!! I am so glad that I watched it !!! Because Tower Records has been a big part of my life !!! I finally got the answers to certain questions that I had about what had happened to one of my favorite stores to go to !!! It was always Really Cool to be in the stores, even if you didn't have any money to shop or spend !!! Very cool Documentary even though the end and the outcome was very sad !!! I'm glad I watched it and will share it with people that I know !!! Rock On !!! KNAC.COM RULES !!!

I used to shop at Tower Records down the street from my home in Boston Massachusetts, I spent many many hours there decades ago, along with in other record stores, I actually used to sell my old records to second hand record stores. Sadly, when companies go bankrupt, many who work there, in upper levels, get a keep a lot of their earnings and some gain some. While individuals file for bankruptcy, they loose everything. You got to love the USA and its Corporate Personhood!

    Damn

  10. Debbie Mitchell BRUSH STROKES by an artist

Radio stations almost became extinct too! People are buying record players and records again, the prices for those old Radio station Microphones are over the top! But remember this:Progress is PROGRESS, you can't stop it! We adapt : )

  11. weatherlicious

Ironic that I see people buying a lot vinyls all over again now a days.

  12. Missmissimo Chingon

tower records began to disappear along with the good rock… both have died… along with the generations that started it… both died as art in the 90s and early 2000s…

When I lived in Hawaii where I grew up, I used to go to the Tower Records there which I thought was called that because it was just a few doors down from the KGMB TV/radio transmitting tower. The name made sense. Later, on the mainland, Tower's where I discovered the British funny magazine VIZ, the hacker magazine 2600, Seth Tobocman's WW3, all sorts of interesting stuff. And of course it was the place to get the latest Kraftwerk tape!

    Boing! Boom-Tshak! and RIP Tower.

  14. Nancy Smith

I didn't know this is what happened to Tower. I shopped in Sacramento in the 70's. I moved and came back and Tower was gone. Sorely missed. Seems with vision something creative could have been done but crushing it was the solution by a behemoth.

    @ 22:25 TITTIES!

The real day the music died.

get rid of the bankers that's what we do!

The amount of time I spent in the SF store is immeasurable. The new music came out on Tuesday (?) and I'd be at Columbus & Bay all day. Love this place and heartbroken that this joint ain't around anymore.

🤔 Let's watch and see if it's good.

  20. Edward Hernandez

All I can say after watching this is thank the heavens or whoever for LiveMusic, something that our current digital reasoning can come close to recreating, but nope, not today!
